The Same Stories

The Same Stories

Christian Muñoz ·

It's incredible to see how much has changed for myself in the past year, let alone a few months, and yet take note on how much has remained the same around here. Every single time I have returned home from traveling abroad, all I see are the same streets, the same beats, the same people, the same stories, the same ups, the same downs, the same race, the same battles, the same of everything repeated in flavorful cycles. It is truly scary—more scarier than sharks with laser beams attached to their heads—to imagine this pattern of sameness to continue on for years, or worse decades to come by. Some people are content living this way, I can never be because it is my nature.

It is my nature to never stop learning, growing, and exploring. In a world where the possibilities are endless from any given point and time, it would be pure insanity to ignore these doors of opportunities. It's so easy to get caught up looking out the window hoping for a better day happiness, peace, fulfillment or whatever to come in some distant "someday" or "almost there," future; while at the same time, ignoring the present realities of life through escapism in the form of drinking, working, smoking, studying, internet, shopping, television and the likes. There comes a time when the diminishing returns from the xyz factor and the realization of having one life to live comes together. When it does, it hits you hard. It is actually a beautiful experience and simply unforgettable.

I know that the realization different for everybody, but one thing is for sure, some people "wake up" laying on a hospital bed after a near death experience, some after discovering what nothing can make or break their happiness, some after their 5th marriage, some after a very old age, some after watching your child fart and laugh, and some after coming back from a country 6,155 miles away where you went in not knowing anything or anybody. When this event occurs—whenever and however it takes place—I think it is a combination of understanding and feeling your life as much as understanding and feeling your own imminent death because life is precious. It really is. We only have one life to live, and I'd be crazy to stay here any longer knowing there is a huge world from within, and out there to explore.

To make a long story short, it's time to move.
